PUBLIC NOTICE on 2/23/2022  - TO ALL INTERESTED PERSONS AND PARTIES:

Exfluor Research Corporation, has applied to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) for issuance of Proposed Air Quality Permit Number 165848, which would authorize construction of the Exfluor Research facility located at 1100 County Road 236, Florence, Williamson County, Texas 76527. This application was processed in an expedited manner, as allowed by the commission’s rules in 30 Texas

Administrative Code, Chapter 101, Subchapter J.

TEXAS COMMISSION ON ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY NOTICE OF APPLICATION PRELIMINARY DECISION FOR AN AIR QUALITY PERMIT PROPOSED PERMIT NUMBER 165848

EXFLUOR Chemical Manufacturing Site Near Florence Williamson County Burnet County in Texas

The permit application, executive director’s preliminary decision, and draft permit will be available for viewing and copying at the TCEQ central office, the TCEQ Austin regional office, and at the Eula Hunt Beck Florence Public Library, 207 East Main Street,

Williamson County, Texas beginning the first day of publication date of February 23, 2022. The facility’s compliance file, if any exists, is available for public review at the TCEQ Austin Regional Office, 12100 Park 35 Circle Building A Room 179, Austin, Texas.


As the application states, this upcoming Exfluor Research Facility with PRIMARY BUSINESS: SPECIALITY CHEMICAL MANUFACTURING,  aka Exfluor Labs, proposed for our area will "emit the following contaminants: hydrogen fluorides, carbon monoxide, hazardous air pollutants, nitrogen oxides, and organic compounds."

"Patricia Mulvihill, president of the North San Gabriel Alliance, said the Alliance and the community have succeeded in delaying Exfluor’s construction since April 2022. Alliance members are hopeful the upcoming hearings will continue to delay construction until at least December. Mulvihill added that her organization was thrilled when they learned the contested case hearing had been granted."

December 23rd, 2022 NSGA and 9 individuals, with combined 10 issues, were granted a Contested Case Hearing by the TCEQ Commissioners on December 14, 2022.
